I am aware that this is thoroughly impossible.

You know what would be cool?

Time should be relative. For example, sprinting with Swiftness II should slow down time just a little bit for the player. Sprint-jumping on trapdoors above ice with solid blocks two metres above while on Swiftness IV should stop the movement of time altogether (as experienced by the player).

That would be hard to do on multiplayer.

Yeah, I agree that it's thoroughly impossible.

Re: I am aware that this is thoroughly impossible.

So like http://testtubegames.com/velocityraptor.html but dependent on potions instead of velocity.
Totally possible on singleplayer, not so much on multiplayer.

The solution to log(x) = x is 0.318131505 ± 1.337235701i
Which is 1337 and the first prime numbers, combined!

Re: I am aware that this is thoroughly impossible.

Well, velocity. But potions are a main factor in uphiking one's velocity. tongue

Re: I am aware that this is thoroughly impossible.

It could be done in multiplayer, just have everyone but the affected player go more slowly. (Have time be relative to the fastest player.)

Well yeah, but that is just kind of weird.

@Molybdenum #r6: We're talking about relativity in Minecraft. Nothing is weird. tongue

The server could record every action done, so if a player did something like this and slowed down time for them, they would be seeing other player's actions after they actually happened.

So if you slowed down time to a standstill for 10 seconds, then went back to normal, everything around you would be 10 seconds behind current time.

This works for slowing down time, but relativity is different in that while others see your time go more slowly, you see others' time go more quickly. If you travel .5c for 2 outside-timeunits (stopping at 1 spaceunit), you will only have taken about 1.7 timeunits in proper time (your own time). If you stop, you should see other's clocks, and therefore actions, ahead of you by about .3 seconds, which is pretty impossible.
ExtraEdit: This is problematic with finite light speed as well, since you could easily get back to where you were.
(There's weirdness with changing reference frames, but I don't want to get into that. if you want to learn more go play velocity raptor (linked in another post))

But then again, as a single player mod this would be totally possible.
